Respect
You’re never alone on the piste. Skiers and snowboarders should take care not to endanger or harm others. Keep an eye on other piste users. No one has a “right of way”, and everyone must respect each other.
Hold your line
An abrupt change in style, direction or speed can catch skiers and snowboarders behind you unawares. You should choose your line to leave plenty of space for those in front of you. You need to take a look behind you before stopping, starting or turning uphill.
Overtaking
When overtaking others, leave a safe distance so they have plenty of room to manoeuvre.
Waiting in line
All skiers and snowboarders want the same thing: to enjoy a great day on the piste. Queues for lifts are inevitable on days with good weather. Standing calmly in line without trying to push in helps to maintain a friendly atmosphere and is also good for your equipment.
Vehicles
Snowmobiles and piste vehicles might occasionally be in use while you’re out on the slopes. Avoid accidents:
- Always let vehicles go first.
- Keep your distance.
- If you can’t move around them, stop and make sure the driver can see you.
